Canes Illinois Testimonials
– Mother of 15u Player
“My son loves being a part of the Canes family. The culture the coaches develop during team practices strikes a great balance of technical development, team camadry, hard work and friendships. Focusing on all these aspects during team practices maximizes technical development and team production on the field. My son also has felt his technical and IQ development has rapidly increased with multiple weekly practices in the fall and winter that separately focus on hitting, fielding and throwing/fielding. The coaches also emphasize and teach physical recovery, strengthening and arm care regimens. The coaches make sure to get to know the boys and foster a strong team environment.”
– Mother of a 15u Player
“Canes has been such a great experience for our son. The coaches are all informative and foster a positive environment whether your kid is an amazing athlete or just learning. After many years and many clubs this is by far the most he has learned and improved both mentally and physically.”
– Father of a 16u player
Our son has been in other travel baseball programs and I have plenty of friends who have sons in other travel baseball programs, which means you hear all sorts of good and not-so-good. What Canes Illinois has accomplished and where they create value is something that sets Canes Illinois apart from many other organizations I am aware of. It may seem simple, but not done enough in my humble opinion, and has a few facets. First, as parents we foot a significant bill for the travel season and all most of us ask for in return is good communication from the organization around scheduling – practices, tournaments and what’s coming up. However, I will also say they do communicate to parents how they set their teams and their rationale behind it, setting expectations well. Canes Illinois does an excellent job of proactive communication, which I appreciate as it removes guesswork. Second, I have been impressed with the strength training regimen and corresponding equipment at their facility, the addition of mental health, the mental side of the game and their focus on arm care/arm safety, particularly for their pitchers. Third, they have a knowledgeable and passionate staff that truly cares for the players and their development, which brings all of the above together. There is more I could say, but if you want what I mention above in a travel baseball organization, you should consider Canes Illinois. Thank you, Canes Illinois.”
Pitching Coaches Testimonials
– Larry Schultz (son Noah 2022 Vanderbilt commit)
“Coach Sheehan has transformed my son in the 16 months that he has worked with him in ways that I couldn’t imagine. Mark always puts health and safety before performance and in doing so, performance has grown by leaps and bounds…WHILE KEEPING MY SON AND HIS ARM HEALTHY! Mark always puts my son’s best interests before his own and constantly goes out of his way to help in any way possible. He is one of the good ones who cares more about the boys development than he does himself. If you get a chance to work with Mark Sheehan, DO IT!! He’s simply the best!!”
– Keith Hessler (Professional Pitcher)
“Working with Mark has completely revived my career. Mark taught me how to pitch using my body instead of working against it. I was able to use all my leverage and power to increase velocity, command, as well as have a healthier arm in the process. This program that teaches and instills principles have turned my professional career around and have allowed me to continue to develop as a pitcher. I would recommend to pitchers of all ages and skill levels. Pitching is about continually learning and developing and I can’t thank Mark enough for giving that to me.”
– Doug Aukland (Son Aden plays for ’22 Canes Illinois)
“Aden is starting to really put it together on the mound. Thanks Coach for all of your work the last couple of years. He’s continuing off what he built this past fall and it’s all because of his training at Canes.”
– TIm Liebelt (Son Jared pitched at Mississippi State University and plays professionally)
“A fantastic program that is directly responsible for the significant jump in performance of my son. Throwing harder than ever, and for the first time since high school, no arm pain or issues. Knowing what I know now, There is no one I would recommend to groom a young pitcher other than Evolution Athletics.”
Hitting Coaches Testimonials
– Parents of 13u Canes Illinois Player
“Zach is awesome! It’s amazing to see how he can pick up little nuances in a swing that he’ll adjust. Best part of it … he’s great with kids of all ages. I think the ultimate testament to what Zach offers is the fact that my 13u constantly asks to set up time with Zach. He truly enjoys working with him and that’s because Zach is great at connecting with the kids and teaching them in a way that resonates with them.”
– Parent of Zach’s private lesson client (also Canes Illinois Player)
“Not only have my son and daughter learned technical skills to an exceptional degree from Zach that translates to game time, they have a fun time during Zach’s lessons. His technical knowledge is superior and he does an awesome job of building on technical development as the kids’ develop and mature. Also, Zach focuses on game mentality and confidence, which enhances the technical skills gained and results in the kids’ enjoying themselves. Zach Teske private lessons have empowered my son and daughter to have the confidence to apply their technical and baseball/softball IQ skills on the field.”
– Canes Illinois 17u Player
“Coach Zach is a great teacher and communicator. In a relatively short amount of time there is tons of improvement in my swing. With his instruction I have been able to execute fielding & hitting with more confidence and accuracy. Looking forward to additional lessons with Coach Zach. Excited to implement my abilities on the field this upcoming season!”
– Parent of long time hitting client
“Zack Teske is one of a kind on Training and Coaching. He has a lot of talent and knowledge on how to work with any age group. The way he relates, connects with each player and gets them to understand what he’s asking from them is amazing. Zack has been working with my son for the past 4 years and you can see his improvement every season. I highly recommend Zack if you want to improve on your baseball skills.”
