Dr. Justin Hunter, D.C., DCBCN – Pure Health & Wellness
Dr. Hunter has been providing Sports Chiropractic/PT care for over 20 years. He is focused on improving athletic performance through the body’s biomechanical functionalities. Understanding the reason for dysfunctional biomechanics is one of the first steps in correcting underlying structures and symptoms for long-term and pain-free performance of the athlete.
Improved biomechanics allows the athlete to have reduced pain, lower incidents of injuries and better overall athletic performance. Dr. Hunter is a firm believer in educating patients on biomechanics with exercise, therapy and proprioceptive awareness (knowledge of where one’s body is without looking) to help them take charge of their own health and performance improvements. Not all biomechanical dysfunctions are the same. He individualizes the assessment and protocol for each patient and is committed to find the root cause of any concerns the athlete has.
Dr. Hunter is one of the few chiropractors in the area who specializes in sports injuries and performance rehabilitation. HE has been the trusted, go-to sports rehab specialist for Mark Sheehan’s personal clients and Canes Illinois players for over 15 years. Additionally, he serves as a medical volunteer for Naperville North High School Athletics where he is the on field trainer/physician for the girls field hockey team.
From a players swing, pitch, and everything in between, Dr. Hunter’s approach greatly benefits the athlete’s health, recovery and overall performance.
Here are a few testimonials from members of the Canes Illinois Family:
Testimonial From Canes Founder and pitching expert Mark Sheehan:
“Me and my clients have relied on Dr. Hunter for any and all ailments to all joints and body parts – from fingertips to toes for 15 years. He has never failed to make my clients better from MLB players to the little leaguers. Dr. Hunter is the ONLY health practitioner I trust. His knowledge of how the body works to perform at its fullest potential is unsurpassed.”
Testimonial From Canes Class of ‘23 RHP MJ Liyeos – Pepperdine University:
“About 4 months ago I first came into Dr. Hunter’s office. I had extreme lower back pain, leg pain, and was recovering from a strained oblique. I’m a 17 year old baseball pitcher and being able to use my lower half to create power and rotate fast is something I’m constantly doing, but I couldn’t do due to my extreme pain. After my first visit with Dr. Hunter not only did he diagnose all the roots of my pain to a tight psoas muscle, but he also loosened it up through PT techniques and instantly I felt relief. After only 8 sessions I was completely pain free when previously I had seen 3 expert physicians that couldn’t locate the cause of my pain nor help alleviate it. Dr. Hunter looked at things from a holistic view as opposed to the traditional specialist that only focuses on one area. This is exactly what I needed as he was the first person to even mention some diagnoses that I’d never even considered. In these past four months my velocity has also jumped dramatically as Dr. Hunter has helped me get pain free. My velocity when I first came in was 78mph and I was struggling to throw off the mound without pain in my back, leg, and oblique. However now my velocity has jumped and been 90mph something I could never have imagined being possible back when I first came in. Thanks for everything Dr. Hunter!”
Testimonial From Owner, Kyle Kolb:
“In college, I hurt my non-throwing shoulder diving into a base and was not able to lift my arm up past my chest. Dr. Hunter not only helped me gain mobility back in my shoulder in a quick timeline, he found a pre-existing injury that more than likely contributed to my current pain. Through a meticulously planned approach, I was back on the field way before my college’s athletic trainer expected.
Fast forward a few years after college and I severely damaged a disc in my low back in the weight room. The family doctor’s office gave me an anticipated timeline for my return to an active lifestyle.. Again, Dr. Hunter’s approach targeted my current symptoms but found other areas of my body, like my hips, to work on to ensure a longer lasting recovery. I was back in the weight room and on the golf course well ahead of the timeline.
