Mike Tumpane

Mike grew up in Aurora, attending and playing baseball at Waubonsie Valley High School. His passion for baseball extended into coaching when his sons began playing youth baseball during their time in Minnesota. Mike spent several years coaching youth teams, gaining valuable experience alongside some great baseball people. His career eventually brought him back to Illinois, closer to his roots.

In September 2020, Mike connected with Mark Sheehan and Zach Teske through the Naperville Little League. His boys started training with Coach Mark, Coach Zach, and other members of the Canes staff in July 2020. After the 2020 season, Mike was on the lookout for a new program for his oldest son. This led him to collaborate with Mark and Zach to build a 13U team, which marked the beginning of the Canes Illinois Youth Baseball program. Mike’s commitment to the Canes philosophy, focusing on arm care, health, and player development, has been instrumental in the program’s growth from just 2 youth teams to 9 within three seasons.

With over 20 years of experience in the personal lines insurance industry, Mike currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Rate Insurance. His dedication to helping young athletes develop their skills and passion for baseball has been as impactful in his coaching career as his leadership role in the professional world.
