Jon Beymar
Pitching Coordinator
Jon began his collegiate career at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, IL, a powerhouse in JUCO baseball and one of the top programs in the country. During his time at Wabash Valley, Jon posted an impressive 2.18 ERA over 19 games, striking out 66 batters in 41.1 innings. His standout performance caught the attention of scouts, leading to his selection in the 29th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals.
However, Jon chose to forego the draft opportunity, opting instead to further his development at the Division I level. He transferred to Campbell University in Lillington, North Carolina, competing in the Big South Conference. Over his final two collegiate seasons, Jon gained valuable experience on the mound, logging 66 innings with the Camels.
Following college, Jon briefly joined a Milwaukee Brewers affiliate before signing with the Evansville Otters in the Frontier League, where he currently pitches. Now in his second season with the Otters, Jon has established himself as a key contributor in the bullpen. In 2023, he appeared in 38 games, boasting a 3.88 ERA and a 3-1 win-loss record. Known for his reliability in high-leverage situations, Jon totaled 58.0 innings with a WHIP of 1.52, primarily coming out of the bullpen.
Jon’s professional journey and dedication to his craft have quickly translated into his coaching style with Canes Illinois. Working closely with Coach Kevin Davis, Jon has fully embraced the Canes Illinois Baseball philosophy, bringing his passion, knowledge, and firsthand experience to the next generation of athletes. His ability to connect with players and his commitment to their development make him an invaluable asset to the program.
Jon is excited to mentor young pitchers, helping them refine their mechanics and mental approach, just as he has throughout his own career. His goal is to instill confidence and a love for the game in every player, ensuring they are prepared to face challenges on and off the field.
