Native of Baton Rouge, LA where he was a standout in football and baseball receiving All-State honors in each. He currently lives in Ankeny, IA with his wife Jennifer and four children: Tamden, Dreighton, Tinsley, and Griffin. Demathdian started Mid West Pride Athletics in 2011. Mid West Pride was developed from his experiences during his collegiate and professional career. His passion and goal is to help each athlete achieve their full potential in life and in sports. Achievements and Credentials: Maple Woods Community College 1996-1998, Junior college All-American 1998, Junior college World Series All-tournament team 1998, Northwestern State University B.S. 200, Northwestern State University Baseball letterman 1999-2000, Northwestern State University Football letterman 2000-2001, Became Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, C.S.C.S. 2003, 2001 Minor League Strength Conditioning Coach Vero Beach Dodgers (A) 2002-2003 Minor League Strength Conditioning Coach Jacksonville Suns (AA) 2004-2006 Minor League Strength Conditioning Coach Las Vegas 51’s (AAA) 6 Years In the Los Angeles Dodgers system Trained Athletes like Matt Kemp, Edwin Jackson, Chad Billingsley, Andre Ethier, Russell Martin, Jonathon Broxton and many more in my time with the Dodgers Organization. Mid West Pride (2011-2024), Demathdian has been a coach at some level for the last 20 years from the youth to the professional level. Demathdian will be the new State Director for Canes Iowa
Jake Sandin
Head Youth Baseball, Softball & Catching Director
Jake Sandin enters his 12th season of coaching youth baseball and softball. He spent the last 11 years as an integral part of Midwest Pride/Canes Iowa – one of the preeminent youth baseball and softball organizations in Iowa – serving as Director of both youth baseball and coach teams from 10U – 14U and high school. He was also instrumental in ushering the organizations’ youth softball program in 2021 as he served as Director. He also volunteers as the hitting coach for Saydel High School in Des Moines. Jakes’s unique ability to connect with athletes, parents, and coaches has resulted in the development of numerous varsity and collegiate ball players. Annually his teams rank in the top of the state of Iowa and play with passion and tenacity. Jake played high school baseball at Saydel High School and collegiately at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.
