Tryouts

Canes Iowa tryouts consists of the following items to be evaluated in order to be placed on a team:

  • 40-60yd dash
  • 5-10-5 agility shuttle
  • Infield drills
  • 8 ground balls (4 straight on, 2 back hands, 2 glove side)
  • Catching technique (stance, receiving, throw down and blocking) 
  • Pitching Mechanics (Bull pen, form, velocity, and accuracy)
  • Hitting mechanics on hittrax units (Form, and exit velocity recorded from front toss)
  • Maximum Velocity pulldowns- players will try to create as much velocity on their throw as they can and the top score will be recorded.
